About the event
During this workshop I'll introduce you to cold process soap. We'll talk safety and quality. All the safety gear you need to learn will be provided. This includes an apron, gloves and face shield. Participants are required to wear long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
We'll make our way through the a wide variety of ingredients. We'll talk about synthetic safety when it comes to colors and fragrances. There is a wide variety of high-quality, skin-safe additives for making soap. I use only ethically sourced additives from industry leaders. My fragrances are paraben and phthalate-free. All my cold process soaps are SLS/SLES free.
During the workshop we'll discuss what makes your soap truly great. That's not the fragrance, not the color, not the swirl. It's all about that base. The base oils of your bar decide all the final qualities. From lather, to hardness, to it's cleansing power - it all starts with the right oils at the right ratios.
You'll leave with a laminated recipe and in-depth notes that outline what we covered. We'll take our time and I'll stay until the last question is answered. Classes are kept to 4 or less persons to allow for an intimate and in-depth learning experience.
Soaps loaves will remain here. It's not safe to transport them directly after making. I'll cut them the next day and send you a video of that process. In about 4 weeks your soaps are ready to pick-up or mailing. Mailing your soaps to you, boxed and labeled is included in the cost of your ticket. What you'll have after slicing is 8 beautiful, big bars of handmade soap. Boxed and ready to give, store or use.
Soaps are safe to use after 72 hours, but to be their very best you should wait about 6 weeks. This allows for a full cure AND crystallization of the bar.
